Disconnected white cable

Had a paper jam error followed by print carriage/cartridge error. Tried to move the carriage to access the cartridges to see what the problem was and the white cable/ribbon attached to the carriage came out. Found the original problem (jewel stuck in the printer causing jam and got stuck under cartridge). Can I reattach the white ribbon to the carriage or do I have to buy a new printer?

Hello there

You may not see a paper jam.

This may work for you, it has worked for many here I given this advice so gave it a try it could work for you.

Generally when this happens, something has fallen into the printer, or a piece of paper has been jammed in there.

First step, remove the ink cartridge, and turn the printer upside down and gently shake it, see if anything comes out.

If nothing goes, or you can't hear anything rattling around, get a piece of cardstock paper (60lb or heavier) and gently push this through the printer, to see if it will help push out what might be stuck in there.

And gave the rode that the ink slides on a good clean and maybe a bit oil on cloth and wipe the rod with it.

Also clean The purge unit, called a spittoon assembly in an HP, Lexmark, Caonon and other inkjet printers, is where the print head assembly parks when not in use, also its other job is to clean and make sure the print head is clean and open for printing.

That is where you'll find the print head assembly parked on top of it.

It also has an electrical pump to milk the print heads and test for ink flow.

So clean all under where the heads are parked and on IP6600D models you can take out the heads just by clipping them out, and then clean well.

Please come back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one so I will keep on helping.

No you need functioning colour cart for black to work.

I read this solution to a problem someone else was having which was similar to my problem. I wiped off the roller with a damp cloth, made sure it was dry and that's all it took to allow the roller to be able to start to pull the paper through. - thanks for the help!

How do you install the update as the updater will not work until the fault has been cleared!

If it is a flat cable some of them had a little clip that would slide back allowing you to reattach the cable some do not
